Announcements and Reminders Friday, February 15, 2019:                           Be prepared each class day for quiet individual reading time.  You could bring a book from home, from the public library, from the school library (media center), or you could use a book from our classroom library.    You will receive points reading quietly during reading time.  It's a great idea to use this time to do assigned reading from your English class.  Your Teachers for Reading 7 Ms. Hilton Second Rotation Feb. 15 - April 10 Ms. Dorsey Ms. Fugal Third Rotation April 12 - May 24 Ms. Cannon First Rotation Jan. 3 - Feb. 13 Targets for this Rotation You will learn a set of reading strategies that you can apply -- especially to the reading you do to learn.  You will be able to tell about and use strategies for  Before Reading, During Reading, and  After Reading.  You will apply these strategies to reading and learning from various texts,                                    including texts you read on the internet.  By the end of his rotation, you will be know and apply The CRAAP Test for Reliability and Usefulness,  A SELF check for preparing to study-read,  and other strategies. You will have spend hours reading for enjoyment -- and create a record of your in-class reading. The best way to improve your reading  is to read, read, read.  February 20:  A/B Day March 4:  No school  March 8:  Last day of Term 3

Targets for Today: I can find books that interest me. I can read for an extended period -- about twenty minutes. I can learn about strategies to use at each stage of reading -- before, during, and after.

Today’s  Agenda for Monday, February 11, 2019: Overall Test today on the BICUM Strategies -- before, during, and after reading -- and on the CRAAP Test. When you finish the test you will hand in the test and your BICUM Brochure. Individual Reading Time And  a bit of celebration with this or this Celebrate what you have learned!

Begin Individual Quiet Reading [San Diego Quick Test for some and a couple of RI's] Then fill out your reading log:   (This is an example.) # Date B N M O Title and Description and pages read Minutes Read Hours Read Ex 2/5/19 x Restart, pgs 137-160, Some people seem to be forgiving, but will Chase go back to being a bully?     20 2.
