Announcements and Reminders for Wednesday/Thursday, August 30/31, 2017:
                         
 School Pictures will be taken during math classes on Thursday and Friday, August 31 and September 1.

Cavetime will begin on Tuesday, September 5.

Your disclosure document signatures (with the pre-assessment on the back)  are due by today.  You can still hand them in after today, but you will receive less points.  Hand them in to the top wire basket for your class.

  • Receive your folder/computer number,
  • and 
  • Receive a packet of information to use as you complete the assignments.
  • Leave your backpacks in the classroom,
  • Take a book to read in case you finish early, and a pencil for notes. 
  • Walk QUIETLY to the lab. 
  • In the lab we will have a quiet, individual working time. 
  • If you need help, ask your teacher or Mrs. Dansie, our computer lab specialist. 
  • Sit down at your assigned computer.

Log in to the computer using your active directory login:

User name: What comes in your school email BEFORE the @

Password:  The password you set.



Open a browser. 

Follow the directions on your handout.  

Answer the questions on the handout. 





Find the information about Lexile Tests and Levels on the menu.

as well as about Internet Safety. 

Look for this box at the end of this post. 


😒   Both A3 and A4 were too loud in the halls today.  Next time we leave the classroom as a group, we will need to go in a more orderly way.

  •        Each partner gets a page protector and a copy of the poem to read.
  •       Each pair gets one eraser and one white-board marker.
  •        Put the poem into the page protector.
  •        With a classmate you will take turns reading the passage.
  •        You will be timed for one minute.
  •        Your partner will follow along and mark any errors and mark where you ended. 
  •        Notice how far you read.  Figure out how many words you read, then subtract any errors.
  •           Write it down.

Today’s  Agenda:

1.  Find your seat on the seating charts. 
2. Select a book to read -- from the books on the desks, and read it for a few minutes.

3, Book Pass -- to get acquainted with some of the books in our classroom.

 

The teacher will tell you which way to pass the books. 
  • Look at the cover. 
  • Read the blurb on the back of the book. 
  • Fill out a line on your log with the title.

  • Begin reading at the beginning of the book, and keep reading until you're told to stop -- about three mintues. 
  • Fill out the rest of that line on your book pass log. 
  • Then do the same with the next book.  Repeat. 

Not-So-Sustained Silent Reading
4. Book frenzy -- When directed to, politely negotiate with classmates to get back the book you would most like to read during the next _5-8 _ minutes.
Receive your blue Reading Log and fill it out for this book. 


5. We will discuss classroom policies and procedures.
