Announcements and Reminders:


If you have not finished your Internet packet by the end of class, take it home to finish, and turn it in as soon as possible. 
                                                               
If you didn't yet hand in the strategies preassessment and the interest inventory, finish those and hand them in to the top wire basket.

If you didn't finish and hand in the computer/internet use paper (blue), finish it and hand it in. 

Also hand in your notes on the CRAAP presentation. If you received a poor score, add to it and hand it in again.   Use this link if needed: Mrs. Jones -- Finding Trustworthy Sources.

Targets for Today:
  • I read for enjoyment, and add to a record of my reading.
  • I can read aloud fluently.
  • I can use the Internet safely and wisely, and research effectively.



Today’s  Agenda:

1. Individual Reading Time and fill out your reading log.
      Be in your seats READING by the time the bell rings.

2. Partner Fluency -- now using Turn Off the Faucet.  Fill out your graph.
          Use the passages you received last time.  
3.  Lab 224  (by Ward and Ralph) -- Work on your computer/internet packet using the computers in lab 224.
     You will use the computer  that matches your folder number.
               Your computer/internet packet is due
 by the end of class today! 

 For the PowerPoint about Wikipedia, if you do not have headphones, use the closed captioning.

   For the clues you list, these would NOT be counted:

  •        It doesn't give an author. (It does!)
  •        It is made by WordPress.  (That's okay.  It's the platform used to create the website.)
  •        It isn't believable.  (That is what you are trying to prove with the specific crazy "facts.")
You already have a couple of examples of what would be counted.   Notice people and things that would not have existed then. What else sounds crazy?
Helps:

  • Who was not living yet in the early 1800's?
  • What technology was not yet available at that time? 
  • What other things wouldn't they have had yet?
