Announcements and Reminders for Friday, November 2, 2018:                           Today is our Readathon! If anyone missed taking the test on Wednesday,  or has prepared for a retake, take it today. Our Readathon is today!!!  November 2 Read-a-thon!  Bring treats, pillow to sit on,  blanket,  if you wish.  Make a note for yourself to bring treats! Our Schedule:         November  2    Readathon  -- Bring treats if you wish.  November 6 -- Move to Mrs. Fugal's  Mrs. Fugal Room 204 Today: Hand in your unused hall passes.

Targets for Today: I can read for an extended period of time.

Today’s  Agenda for Friday, November 2, 2018: If you have not yet taken the test, see the teacher. Take the fluency passages and page protector out of your folder, and place it where directed.   Check your folder for any homework/make-up work. Receive your BICUM Brochures back put them in your folders or take them to study for a retake.  Place the folder back in your hanging folder. By the end of class, hand in your unused hall passes.  5.  Look over your test.  You may retake during Cavetime or after school on Friday next week.  Study first!         You may also redo and hand in a BICUM Brochure if you earned less than 25 points on that.        Hand the tests in again.  Do not keep them!   Readathon -- not a talkathon!              You will be quietly reading MOST of the time.  You may sit ALMOST anywhere you want -- including sitting on the floor,    however, the teacher reserves the right to place you in a seat of her choosing     if you are not on task -- reading!  You may read your choice of materials.  Enjoy the treats your brought -- and a small treat from Ms. Dorsey, but be careful not to make a mess, and do clean up after yourself.  With a brief "fieldtrip" and a few video breaks. http://www.oprah.com/own-oprahshow/watch-a-florida-middle-schools-reading-flash-mob-video Give yourself a pat on the back for all you've accomplished in this class!

If You Were Absent: If you are missing any points for daily reading, pick up the pink make-up sheet, or print one off from Skyward, and do the homework. If you missed last time and this time, arrange a time with me to take the final test.  You may retake the final text next week during Cave Time (except on Wednesday) or after school on Friday.

Targets for Today: I can show that I can use reading strategies and skills.   I can show that I can use mnemonic devices to remember information. I can read a variety of materials for a sustained time. I can read fluently with speed and accuracy.

Today’s  Agenda: 1. Take ten minutes to prepare for the test.   Get out your BICUM Brochure and make sure it is complete.   Review the CRAAP Test, the first ten presidents, and the topics for the Bill of Rights. 2. See an example of the final test on using reading strategies.  3. Take the Final Test, including the strategies test and the information you have memorized using mnemonic devices.   Keep out your BICUM Brochure, and, if you think you may need them, your hall passes.   Make sure you have a working pencil or pen.   When you have finished, staple the test to the article on the same corner where there are already staples.  Then hand it and your brochure in to the top wire basket.  Also hand in your BICUM Brochure.  Pick up a piece of candy from Ms. Dorsey.  Treat or treat!  4.
