Receive and begin to get acquainted with your disclosure document.

Think about what reading is.

Find some books you might want to read.

Choose your own seat today.

   1. Bell-Ringer:  
   Pick up a disclosure document and the "scavenger hunt" to go with it.
   Fill out the scavenger hunt paper, using the disclosure document.

   Discuss disclosure document.  Do you have any questions?

   3. One-Minute Partner Fluency Practice
       Each partner gets a page protector and a copy of the poem to read.
       Put the poem into the page protector.
       With a classmate you will take turns reading the passage.
       You will be timed for one minute.
       Notice how far you read. 
          Write it down on your disclosure document:
              ______ wpm

     Return the passages/page protectors.

   4. Book Pass 
The teacher will tell you which way to pass the books. 
  • Look at the cover.
  • Read the blurb on the back of the book.
  • Fill out a line on your log with the title.
  • Begin reading at the beginning of the book, and keep reading until you're told to stop.
  • Fill out the rest of that line on your log.


Book frenzy -- When directed to, politely negotiate with classmates to get back the book you would most like to read during the next __ minutes.
