Announcements and Reminders:            February 13:  BICUM Brochures are Due                            Take the Final Test                                       (Be able to use your BICUM Strategies --without the brochure                                                 -- as you read an article.)                                     (Memorize the topics of the First Ten Amendments and the first                                                  ten Presidents of the United States, using mnemonics.)                                     (Be able to list and define the parts of the CRAAP Test to                                                   determine whether a source is reliable and useful.) February 15:  Class Readathon

Targets for Today:   I can quietly read my own choice of materials for an extended time -- hopefully enjoying it!  I can improve my fluency by better understanding my own reading habits, and by practicing!   I can practice improving my reading by using metacognition.

Today’s  Agenda: 1.  Individual Reading Time and Fill Out your Reading Log. 2.  Partner Fluency Practice and fill out your Fluency Graph. 3.  Practice for the final test by applying the BICUM Strategies to reading an article.   Instructions:   Start out with the worksheet, and use your BICUM Brochure to do each step, explaining on the worksheet how you can use the strategies for each step of the reading process as you read the article about the Koreas and the Korean War.  Tell specifically how you can use the strategies for this article.    Your purpose is to understand the subject well enough to teach someone else the  most important information.   When you have finished, staple your papers together and hand them in to the top wire basket for your class.   Please hand them in even if you are not entirely finished.

If You Were Absent: See above.  Complete your make-up reading using the pink make-up reading log.  Ask for the BICUM Practice materials.
