Announcements and Reminders:    DO NOT pick up your folders yet. There will be no regular Cave Time on Friday.  Instead, all seventh graders will attend an assembly.

Targets for Today: I can find information on the Internet that is both reliable and useful. I can recognize when information is unreliable or not helpful to my purpose.

Today’s  Agenda: Do not pick up your folders yet. Media Center Presentation on CRAAP!?!?            Leave by A3 - 12:15   and   A4 - 1:35.             TAKE A PENCIL OR PEN.     Be quiet in the halls.   Media Center "Fieldtrip"      We are learning today about using the CRAAP Test to find useful and reliable information. The CRAAP Test for Finding Trustworthy Sources  ⇉ ⇉  You will memorize  the parts of the CRAAP Test.   Be able to explain each part of the mnemonic.  2. Quiet Individual Reading Time   Select a book to read and read quietly for about 20 minutes. 3. Fill out your reading log.  # Date B N M O Title, Explanation, Pages Minutes Total Hours  1  11/6  x The Maze Runner  8-20  20  1/3  2  11/8 x  Cobblestone  about Washington,D.C.    20  2/3       If you're absent, or were off-task during reading time, or didn't fill out your log,       pick up a pink make-up sheet and do the homework. 3.  One-Minute Partner Fluency Practice -- if time allows        Each partner gets a page protector and a copy of the poem to read.       Each pair gets one eraser and one white-board marker.        Put the poem into the page protector.        With a classmate you will take turns reading the passage.        You will be timed for one minute.        Your partner will follow along and mark any errors and mark where you ended.         Notice how far you read.  Figure out how many words you read, then subtract any errors.           Write it down.                 ______ wpm MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT THE DATE, PASSAGE NUMBER OR LETTERS, AND WORDS PER MINUTE EACH TIME YOU HAVE HAD A TURN TO DO A TIMED READING.            Fill out a column on your graph for each time you read. Example Date 11-8-18 11-8-18 Passage 101 101 Words Per Minute 143 (your own WPM) 153   (your own WPM)

Vocabulary: C = Currency --  How up-to-date is it?      R = Relevance -- Is it what I need or want?  Does it help me? A = Authority --    Who wrote or published this?    What makes them an expert? A = Accuracy --  Is the information correct? Can you verify it in more than one place?
