Announcements and Reminders  Monday, December 3, 2018: December 3 --   RI = Reading Inventory and Practice using Metacognition online  -- Why not Wikipedia?  December 5 --  During Reading -- fix-up strategies  -- After Reading -- Retain -- Use flashcards  to study CRAAP, Bill of Rights, first ten presidents-      December 7 --  Practice using Metacognition  with an article December 11 -- Strategy review December 13 --  Final Test --  Turn in BICUM Brochure December 17 --Readathon and Test make-up, if needed               Bring treats, if you wish, to the Readathon.     December 17 Read-a-thon!  Bring treats, pillow to sit on,  blanket,  if you wish.  Make a note for yourself to bring treats!        Remember to be studying the words and meanings for the CRAAP Test,  the topics of the Bill of Rights, and the First Ten Presidents of the United States.

Targets for Today: I can show what I know about reading. I can do my best on the test. I can learn about why my teachers don't want me to use Wikipedia as a source for serious research. I can read for enjoyment.

Today’s  Agenda  Monday, December 3, 2018: You do not need to get out your file folders today.  RI Test  and Wikipedia Assignment in Lab 224 Bring a book or magazine to read in case you have extra time after you finish. Follow the directions you receive in the Computer Lab. RI Instructions  Log onto the computer and wait.  Follow directions to log onto the RI.  (See the poster on the wall.) Select three favorite types of books.  Take the practice test SERIOUSLY. Take the rest of the test.  Take it seriously.  It is one of the factors that will influence what classes you will be able to take in the future. If you absolutely DO NOT know an answer, use a "SKIP." When finished, you may print and take the list of suggested books.  The RI  is used for placement purposes. The RI will affect your brain.  It is meant to be hard - it is adaptive.  Are you anxious?  You will be able to take it again, and the teacher will look at your SAGE score and reading habits as well, so the RI is only one measure of where you are at). The RI is about growth and does not define you. Wake up strategies (mind games or movement exercises) Assignment About Wikipedia: To get to CANVAS -- Go to your own Gmail account. Look for the applications menu in the upper right hand corner:     Look for CANVAS:    Click on it.    Click on Announcements.
