Announcements and Reminders:

Today is the first day of your new term!

Ms. Dorsey will no longer be doing intervention for Cavetime on Thursdays.  She will instead host the Mock Trial enrichment.

Book Orders are due on Wednesday.

This rotation ends November 11. Make sure you have all of your work turned in, and any make-up work completed and turned in by that day.
We have six more days of class, including the Readathon on November 11.
On that day bring your favorite reading materials, a pillow if you'd like to sit on it, and treats to enjoy and to share.

Targets for Today:

  •      I can spend time reading something enjoyable.
  •      I can work on improving my reading fluency.
  •      I can use the strategy of asking questions to help myself understand and remember the things I read.

Today’s  Agenda:

Pick up your folder from the black crate for your class.
1. Individual Reading.
Fill out your log for today.

2. Partner Fluency Practice
Fill out your graph -- especially the top three cells!

3. Asking questions --

Before Reading --
When you PREVIEW a text,
BICUM: 5. Select or Create Questions

During Reading -- As you read, pay attention when more questions come into your mind.

After Reading --  One helpful way to prepare for a test is to create your own test questions.

Activity: Creating a test.
In your NUMBER groups, create test questions for your section.
Try to come up with as many different questions as you can.
If you absolutely can't come up with enough questions, and one student is asking a multiple choice question, another could ask the same thing as a short answer or true-false question, or visa-versa.

If You Were Absent:

See above.  Make up the reading at home using the Make-Up Reading Log.
If you miss more than one or two days, you may also make up the fluency practice.
