Targets for Today:
I will spend time reading something enjoyable.
I will work on improving my reading fluency.
I will better understand how to find reliable sources when I do research.

Today’s  Agenda:

Today's activities:
Pick up your folder from the black crate.

1. Begin class with Quiet Individual Reading.    Fill out your reading log!

2. Fluency Partner Practice -- with your elbow partner.

3.  Using Reading Strategies to Improve your Reading and Remembering.

  • We've learned that you can't trust everything you read online.  http://allaboutexplorers.com/explorers/lewis-clark/
    • and why Wikipedia isn't always reliable.
  • We learned that there are sources you can trust.                                     such as Biography Reference Center

  • Now,   what do you do when you've found reliable, useful information and need to learn it?

Step One:
Really read when you're reading.

Use Metacognition: Thinking About Your Thinking

You can choose to focus on one thing, and not let others  distract you.

What do you do when you've been distracted and realize you haven't really been reading -- then what if you're just not getting it? Click on this link to progress through the series of posts -- one linked from the other, then came back here by clicking on the Home tab above.

Using a plain piece of paper -- colored or white, fold it into thirds -- hamburger-wise.
