Announcements and Reminders:
Turn in your unused hall passes today. Pick up your folder, and study for the retake test on the CRAAP Test. Your folders are now in alphabetical order by last name. Have your book ready so you are reading when the bell rings.
March 15 -- All Seventh Graders will be Job Shadowing, so not at school.
The last day to hand in late work was last Friday. Notice that if you forget or lose your assignment pages, you can print them at home from Skyward. I will still accept the Internet packet through Monday (today) by the end of class, even though the deadline was last Friday. We will work on them for a brief time today -- by the end of class. Turn them in to the top wire basket today if you do more today. More Wikipedia -- Who Writes It?

____________________________________________ If time:
5. Begin your BICUM Brochure
5. Metacognition and BICUM!
You will have time to do recreational reading in this class,
but we will focus on STUDY-READING -- reading to learn and remember.
Metacognition!
Review from last time : Step One: Notice Your Thinking so you can
really read when you're reading.
Metacognition = Noticing your own thinking. What distracts you? What keeps you from focusing on the thing you are supposed to be reading?
What do you do when you've been distracted and realize you haven't really been reading -- then what if you're just not getting it? How can you keep yourself focused in the first place?
Pair-Share
You can learn strategies to help yourself succeed in your reading tasks.
Today:
BEGIN YOUR BICUM BROCHURE Using a plain piece of paper -- colored or white, fold it into thirds -- hamburger-wise.
Step 2 for Your Brochure: Inside
|
If You Were Absent:

metacognition: thinking about your thinking
Current/ Currency: up to date Relevant/Relevancy: Is it really what you need? Authority: the power or right to do something Accuracy: the power or state of being correct or right Purpose: why something is being done |
