Announcements and Reminders:                            We will begin with individual, quiet reading.  Pick up your folder and a book, and be in your seat reading by the time the bell rings.

Targets for Today: I can read for an extended time from materials  of my own choice.  I  know and can chose from strategies to make my reading more effective.

Today’s  Agenda: 1. Individual Quiet Reading and fill out your log.  (If you are missing points for the reading log, take home a pink make-up sheet.)      Notice as you read whether you are making predictions and inferences (reading between the lines).  2.  Partner Fluency Practice  and fill out your graph.  (Make sure you fill in the date, passage, and your words per minute for each time you read.) The passage number is in the upper right hand corner of your page.  4.  More BICUM Brochure and Practice  Your Brochure: Inside ⇩-- We filled out this part last time.  Before Reading Complete a Self Check  Study Area  Emotions Level of  Difficulty Feeling physically  Preview 1. Read the title. Ask: What do I know about this subject? 2. Read the first couple of sentences and the last couple of sentences. 3. Look for bold or italicized print. 4. Look at charts, maps, graphs, diagrams. 5. Ask:  Is this a reliable and useful source?  Use ABC's or CRAAP Test if needed. 6. Select or Create Questions (Set Purpose!) 7. Set Study Length During Reading Be Active ➨ Check your alignment. ➨"Talk" with the author or text. ➨Visualize. ➨ Make Predictions      1) predict 2) read 3) check 4) compliment or correct      Make Inferences. Focus on it, and read it  again. 3. Add to your background knowledge!  You can do this before reading or during reading. Look it up on a reliable online site. Find a book for children on the topic.
