Announcements and Reminders:

1    Reading  the Internet  to Learn =   Reading  the Internet  to Learn  Searching Online -- Also finish  Bias assignment)  

Today:   
5    Finish Reading the Internet -- Searching
              First thing, get out a chromebook if you haven't finished 
                    your Search Practice. 
              If you are done with all parts of that, read your choice of book. 
        BICUM
      After Reading -- Reduce --  (Patterns and Mind Mapping)  
      
7      After Reading -- Retain  --   Mnemonics  -- Use a peg system to learn the Bill of Rights
       RI - Reading Inventory Test -- Beginning of class 
After Reading -- Retain --   Mnemonics  -- Use the loci system to learn the first ten U.S. Presidents.    

11      Use flashcards  to study CRAAP, Bill of Rights, first ten presidents
             You should know either Bill of Rights or First Ten Presidents (or both) for the test.                       Use the mnemonics and other strategies to memorize.
        Practice using Metacognition   with an article = practice test! 

13      Final Test --  Turn in BICUM Brochure and then take the test. 
15      Readathon and Test make-up, if needed
              Bring treats, if you wish, to the Readathon.
 

Friday:  Bring treats, pillow, blanket, if you wish 


The administration changed our schedule on November 21, such that we will not have class on December 19.   Schedule for December 19/20, 2017

An Important Homework Assignment
It was due a few class times ago. 


Part A. At home you will find our classroom website/blog at https://cavereading.blogspot.com/
Part B.  Sign up for our Google Classroom. 
If needed, pick up the assignment slip in class.  You will fill it out as homework.          

If you missed the RI and/or the Presidents "scavenger hunt,"  you must make those up.  See me.

As  I read for learning, I can I can use strategies to understand and remember the material I need to know.

I can show what I know about using strategies when I read. 


Today’s  Agenda:

1.   Finish filling in the peg system for the Bill of Rights.  
Learning a peg system for memorizing The Bill of Rights (and anything else that comes in sets of ten or less).  
If you were not here last time, pick up a divided and numbered page and write in the following words in the spaces to match the numbers. 

1.    Bun
2.    Shoe
3.    Tree
4.    Door
5.    Hive
6.    Sticks
7.    Heaven
8.    Gate
9.    Line
10.  Hen 

Peg System for Memorizing The Bill of Rights  

We will finish filling in peg system for the Bill of Rights.

2.  Practice using your BICUM strategies with an article.  
           This is practice for the final test next time!  
  • You may use your brochure today, but will not be able to use it next time.  
  • You will hand in your BICUM brochure next time BEFORE you take the test.  
For this practice, your study area is in your own bedroom.   Write your SELF Assessment based on that. 







3.  If you have extra time, 
take a few minutes to quietly practice the CRAAP Test, the First Ten Presidents, and the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution.  
After that read, keep track of your reading time, and record it on your log.

Prepare for the test next time.  Study your BICUM Brochure and  the CRAAP Test, the First Ten Presidents, and the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution.
