Announcements and Reminders:     If you have not handed in your disclosure signatures and strategies preassessment, hand them in now or as soon as possible.      Check your folder for a pink make-up log.  You will have one only if you have missed school or have not filled out your reading log.    If you have one, take it home to complete the make-up work. Prepare to go to Lab 224 today.

Targets for Today: I can show what I know about reading. I can do my best on the test. I can sign up for our Google Classroom, and I can remember to take my homework to be completed using this class blog. I can learn about why my teachers don't want me to use Wikipedia as a source for serious research. I can read for enjoyment.

Today’s  Agenda: Reading Inventory and Sign up for our Google Classroom and Learning about Wikipedia and Individual Reading RI Test  and Wikipedia Assignment in Lab 224 Bring a book or magazine to read in case you have extra time after you finish. Follow the directions you receive in the Computer Lab. RI Instructions  Log onto the computer and wait.  Follow directions to log onto the RI.  (See the poster on the wall.) Select three favorite types of books.  Take the practice test SERIOUSLY. Take the rest of the test.  Take it seriously.  It is one of the factors that will influence what classes you will be able to take in the future. If you absolutely DO NOT know an answer, use a "SKIP." When finished, you may print and take the list of suggested books.  The RI  is used for placement purposes. The RI will affect your brain.  It is meant to be hard - it is adaptive.  Are you anxious?  You will be able to take it again, and the teacher will look at your SAGE score and reading habits as well, so the RI is only one measure of where you are at). The RI is about growth and does not define you. Wake up strategies (mind games or movement exercises) Then sign up for our Google Classroom.    Go to your own school gmail account. Find the nine-box at the top right.    Find the icon for Google Classroom. Click on the plus sign.                                                       ↡ Type in your class code.     On the Google classroom, you will find a link to the webpage where you will find the video for your Wikipedia assignment.  http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/tutorials/wikipedia/ If you finish early, read your book or magazine.  You will take and complete at home  the assignment using our class blog.   When we leave, remember to log off of the computer, and to push your chair in.  Link to the blog assignment answers:   2018 Rotation 1 Student Blog Assignment
