Targets for Today:   I can quietly read my own choice of materials for an extended time -- hopefully enjoying it!  I can improve my fluency by better understanding my own reading habits, and by practicing!   I can learn about improving my reading by using metacognition.  I can retain/remember the information I need to learn.      Today we are working on learning the CRAAP (an acronym) test and the First Ten Amendments to the Constitution (using a peg system).

Today’s  Agenda for Tuesday, January 30, 2018: 1. Pick up your folders and a book or other materials to read.  2. Quick review of the CRAAP Test:  You will be tested on this.  Receive a study page.  The CRAAP Test for Finding Trustworthy Sources 3.  Quiet Individual Reading Time      Fill out your reading log for today.                      (San Diego Quick Individual Reading Tests)  4.  Partner fluency practice          Each time you read, record it on your fluency graph.  5.  Take a quiz on the CRAAP test.   -- A4 took the test.  A3 did not.  CRAAP Test Flashcards.docx 6. More on remembering/retaining:    You will need to know the topics for the First Ten Amendments -- in order.  Peg System for Memorizing The Bill of Rights  A Great Memory Aid:  Write and Draw  Use a sheet of plain paper to sketch out the peg system.   Fold it in half (hot dog).   Divide each column into 5 - about 2 inches each.  We had gotten through #3, drawing, in A3. In A4 we had just looked at the system through #3.   Some in A4 still need to receive their papers.  All need to set up the page and begin drawing.  1 6 2 7 3 8 4 9 5 10
