Announcements and Reminders:                           Hand in your disclosure document and strategies pre-assessment if you haven't yet. If you were absent time before last, see me about taking the RI test.     Don't forget to take your reading homework home and complete it if you need to do make-up work -- the pink sheet.    Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on February 9.   Pick up your folders and have a book ready to read.  Do you know them?

Read the title. Ask: What do I know about this subject? 2. Read the first couple of sentences and the last couple of sentences. 3. Look for bold or italicized print. 4. Look at charts, maps, graphs, diagrams. 5. Ask:  Is this a reliable and useful source?  Use ABC's or CRAAP Test if needed. 6. Select or Create Questions (Set Purpose!) 7. Add to your background knowledge! You can do this before reading or during reading.
