Announcements and Reminders:

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on February 11 -- today.

On February 18/19 the counselors will come into your English classes to teach you how to register for next year.
Your registration papers will be due in our class by February 23.

Your computer lab packets were due last Wednesday.  Finish them as soon as possible and place them in the top wire basket.

Before you leave today, turn in your BICUM brochures if you have not done that yet.

Don't forget to clean up after yourself -- for the contest and because you do the right thing.

We have    5   more classes in this rotation including today.
Turn in any revised or missing work BEFORE the end of the rotation.
Have your brochure ready to turn in.

Targets for Today:

  • I read for enjoyment, and add to a record of my reading.
  • I can read aloud fluently.
  • I understand and can use skills and strategies to better comprehend and remember the information I learn by reading.

Today’s  Agenda:

Pick up your folder.
1. Individual reading and FILL OUT YOUR READING LOG. (Make sure you name is on your log.)

2. Partner Fluency.  Use the passage you are assigned.  The passage number is in the upper right hand corner.

3. Just for fun:  Seeing patterns helps learning!
Try it
Memorize this string of numbers:

912161923263033

Now break it into these chunks and look for a pattern.

9   12   16   19   23   26   30   33

If you can find the pattern, it will make memorizing much easier.
Try it.

4. Using BICUM strategies to learn.

Working with your partner, Study-Read a packet about the Lewis and Clark Expedition.   Use the steps, strategies, and skills from your BICUM brochure.
The article in the packet is from World Book Online, accessible through Pioneer Library.

Remembering what you have read:
Begin a mind map for the Lewis and Clark Expedition
